February has come and almost gone, how did that happen?

Well, here we are almost a month has passed since my last post. Time certainly does fly. Some very big news is that we are about four weeks pregnant with our fifth child! I am not feeling sick yet but expect to by the end of next month. Jeremy is delighted and keeps talking about names. I want to wait until I am showing to tell everyone (we haven't told a soul) but Jeremy just wants to wait until the "safe" period is over. It's kind of a game to see how long I can keep this special secret for me. I just feel like it will give me little landmarks during this pregnancy to look forward to besides all the regular landmarks. We'll see.

I've started taking Eowyn and Layla to a daycare on Wednesdays so I can get things done. I love it but I also feel guilty. I think I feel guilty about paying someone else to watch my girls. It's a weird thing because I look forward to it every week but I also feel like less of a mom. They both cry when they get there but settle down after I am gone. They are both delighted to see me when I pick them up though. I just feel like when I'm trying to get things done they sit around and watch movies (which I HATE!) so, at least, there are other kids to play with at daycare. We'll see how long I do this for.

Here are a few pictures of the last month in no particular order...

sack racing for Saylor's turn at FHE
Eowyn and Daddy being cute.
Eowyn is constantly locking the bathroom door and putting on my make-up. She comes out looking like this VERY often. It's pretty cute.

Mike with crackers in his glasses. What a character.
Saylor decided to get out some paper to color pictures and make a story. I found her with this enormous pile of paper. It was hilarious.
Layla is in the dryer. I thought it was sooo cute so I took a picture. Later that day while folding laundry I found that while she was in there she left a purple crayon. I lost an entire load of laundry.
Layla is shutting Eowyn in the dryer. Silly girls.

Some other fun things we did this last month...

I was able to go to both Saylor's and Michael's class Valentine's Day Parties. They were cute and the kids had a good time.

We had Trent and Richelle over to hang out. Jeremy put up the moon bounce, a tent, the soccer nets and tons of other things. The kids had so much fun we didn't really see them inside the whole day even though it was chilly. Our kids used to spend all day outside in Virginia but here in Utah that has not been the case so we were so pleased that they stayed out so long. It's what we really want. It was really fun to be with Trent and Richelle we just chatted and ate and chatted more. It was the perfect day.

Grandma and Grandpa came up for a Grandparents day last Saturday. We played a Valentine Bingo game and had dinner and then grandpa played hide and seek with the kids as well as other games. They had a great time. We all had a great time. Family is wonderful.

Of things that matter most

Today Jeremy went down to Sandy and ordained Joe an Elder. Joe asked him last week if he would do that for him and I know that Jeremy was very humbled and pleased that Joe would think of him. He and Jeremy were here when I got home from church and so I talked to Joe about it and he said it was an amazing blessing. I know it was. Nana and Pops came up later on this evening to pick up Joe and I got to see Joe anoint his dad for the first time. It was a very neat thing to witness.

We actually got to spend alot of time this week and last with extended family and I really feel like it enriches our lives. Last Sunday we went to Nana and Pops' for dinner for Sally's birthday and were able to just enjoy family. Then on Friday Nana and Pops came up to hang out. Jeremy and I were able to go to dinner and then came back and had a great time with Nana and Pops. They stayed until well after 11pm.

On Saturday we went to Grandma's and Grandpa's for baby Bryton's first birthday party and we were able to hang out with family there too. What a joy for us.

Layla was running around the house with a My Little Pony growling at people today. It was absolutely adorable.

Winter Trip

The kids had a long weekend and so we decided that we wanted to get away and have some real family time. It was a great experience. We left after school on Thursday and headed up Ogden Canyon to a city named Eden. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! We stayed in a very rustic and very nice condo called Moose Hollow. It had three bedrooms on the bottom floor and upstairs a family room with kitchen and dining room. I always love staying some place really nice and this condo was no exception. Right out the kitchen window was a view of Wolf Creek Ski Resort and at night it was all lit up. It was really fun to look out the window. Jeremy and I just wanted to spend some real time with our kids without distractions and I think we got what we wanted. Our nights were spent playing Monopoly Jr, Chess, Checkers, Zingo, a matching game, puzzles and more. We watched a couple of movies as a family after playing games and just really enjoyed each other. What more can I say, it was just a perfect couple of days.

playing games

On Saturday morning we went to Dinosaur Park in Ogden. They have a really cool animatronics display on the top floor that the kids really enjoyed. We went through the museum fairly quickly however, I think if the kids really wanted to slow down and learn about the dinosaurs we could have spent quite awhile there.

There was a cute little interactive table that the kids played at for awhile,

Layla colored pictures for about 20 minutes straight. I actually had to pick her up and move her when another group of kids came to this area. She cried and cried.

There was an outdoor park with a playground that had life size dinosaurs. It was cute. The kids played here until they all got too cold.

On Friday afternoon and again on Saturday morning we took a beautiful drive from the Moose Hollow Condo we stayed in to Snowbasin Ski Resort. They had an area away from the ski lifts where people were sledding. We suited up and trudged to the top of the hill only to gleedfully fly down in less than half the time it took to go up. Somehow we LOVED it! The kids laughed and squeeled all the way down the hills. They eventually got brave enough to try some stunts like sitting on their knees. WOOOOOHOOOOO!! Layla was lucky enough to be carried up all the hills by me both days so she only knows the utter joys of sledding without the work. Below are just a few pictures of our day on Friday. We were having too much fun on Saturday to bother with the camera. Oh well.

On Friday I forgot Layla's snowsuit at the condo (the result of having to change a diaper right as we walked out the door) so she and I had to spend some time in the car warming up. She was much easier to carry without her snowsuit!

We came home after sledding on Saturday. Jeremy and I decided that we wanted to make sure we made it home and were prepared for the Sabbath. What a wonderful couple of days.

This week.

What to write, what to write...

A couple of hours ago Michael walked up the stairs and stopped mid-step and turned around. He had an apple core in his and and said "I just about threw my apple core into the toilet!" I guess he was on his way to the garbage but somehow headed upstairs to the bathroom instead.

Michael has been so cute with Layla this week. I came down this morning when she woke up and Mike was on the couch and the first thing he wanted was a hug and kiss for Layla. He is truly an affectionate little boy. He constantly wants to be close to us and give hugs and kisses. He's getting big but it reminds me that he is still a little boy. I know it will end all too soon. I hope I can cherrish his sweet hugs and kisses forever.

Little Layla said "thank you" after Nursery today. I wasn't there to hear it but both Saylor and Daddy said she waved bye to the Nursery leaders and then said "thank you". Layla is my sweet little baby. She follows me around everywhere and has to know where mom is. I have to admit that she gets plastered with kisses everyday. She bares it patiently. She still wants to sleep with mom. It is very difficult for me to sleep with her there but it is also unbelievably heavenly. She doesn't just want me to be there she wants to either touch me with her feet or her little hands. A couple of nights ago she laid her sweet hand right on my cheek and just breathed her baby breath on me. I just watched her sleep and just could not get the word "lovely" out of my mind. Jeremy and I are delighted with her emerging personality and we often comment to each other that she is just as wild as the rest. She runs around the house with her siblings and seems to know how to play with them especially Eowyn. They are already good playmates.

Eowyn is very concerned with others. Whenever Layla cries she always tries to help but it usually just frustrates me more because Layla doesn't want help from Eowyn. Still I view her deep concern for others as a great quality. She will often say prayers that her Daddy will not have his headache anymore. I had the hiccups at dinner tonight so Eowyn got out of her chair and came over to mine and asked me if making silly faces would help with my hiccups. She proceeded to make silly faces at me. It was pretty cute. Luckily Jeremy gave me some water at the same time and so her "silly faces" actually worked. Eowyn is VERY demanding right now but she is so adorable that it evens itslef out plus she says the funniest things you've ever heard. I absolutely LOVE her laugh and can't help but laugh with her when she cracks up.

Saylor had a spelling bee this week for her class. She said she was like the 5th one left when she got out. She was so pleased with herself and I am pleased too. She spelled the word "ROAD" and it was actually "RODE" bummer! Since her birthday when she got her Ipod touch she is constantly on that thing. In some ways I am regretting her having it but I know she loves it. Tonight as we did family scripture study she whipped her Ipod out and flipped through her files and found the verses we were on in no time. I was quite amazed. Saylor LOVES to read and I often have to threaten to take away her book if she doesn't do "x". I am secretly (or not very secretly) very happy for her love of books.

Jerry and I went to his work party at a steakhouse on Saturday night. We have never been to his work parties together before and we had a great time. I think he works with very interesting and optimistic people. They were nice enough to invite Jeremy because he doesn't actually work with them on their team but everyone we chatted with was so welcoming and professional. It was just really fun to see Jeremy among his peers. It was nice to be able to spend alone time with my sweetheart.

The start of a new year...our best year yet!

I've been waiting for quite some time for a natural "fresh start" in life, so on this New Year's Day 2012 I feel the desire to start our family history in hopes that we might cherish the little moments we have together.

I am gazing down into the family room at my family as they play a wii game together. As I listen to them interact with each other I am living one of life's "cherished moments". The interesting thing is their comments to each other are not all sweet and lovey dovey and yet the joy on their faces as they almost beat Dad is priceless. He always wins.

Earlier today I enjoyed another moment, perhaps the highlight of the day, Saylor recieved an Ipod touch for her birthday and this afternoon Jeremy set up Skype on it. A few minutes later Jeremy ran upstairs to his Ipad and called Saylor on Skype. So there they were one upstairs and one downstairs having a conversation on Skype. I could only hear Saylor's end of the conversation but it was very cute. She was asking Jeremy where he was and other cute things. Michael figured out where Jeremy was quite quickly and sat upstairs with Jer sharing in all the mirth of Saylor not knowing where they were. I think eventually Eowyn ended up with them. At one point Jeremy told Saylor he was back in Virginia and Michael covered his mouth with his hands to stifle his laughter. I guess he thought that was a really great joke.

Michael playing with cars in his room.

Autumn and Eowyn

She wanted Chicken nuggets tonight and I told her "no". She ran down and asked Jeremy who also said "no". She came up a few minutes later and told me she had a secret. She leaned in and whispered in my ear "Daddy said yes." Oh boy!

Saylor reading one of her many Fairy Realm books.

Eowyn and Layla. I had to take like 20 pictures to get this one. They are wiggly girls!

Jeremy, Layla, and Michael right before the wii games began.

I can see Layla coming up the stairs looking for me. Yup, she just made eye contact. "MOMMIE!"

I guess I'd better put her to bed.
